This car was spotted at the Imperial Citadel in Hanoi, one of the oldest structures in the city. The Citadel dates to the 10th century, around the time when Vietnam became independent of Chinese rule, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the cultural heart of Hanoi.

This car was parked within the complex and is obviously of Soviet origin. An online review confirms it’s a GAZ-24 Volga, likely constructed between 1970-76, the earlier years in which this model was produced. Most Volgas were equipped with a 2.4 liter engine which could produce about 95 hp.

In Vietnam, Volgas were used by public officials, although I don’t know the specifics of this particular car.
