A limited-time discount on a Netherlands all-you-can-ride rail pass has proven wildly popular, with over 175,000 sold in the first two weeks it was available.
The €49-a-month pass, about 60% off the regular price, is good for off-peak travel on all domestic train services. The discount is aimed at offsetting increased energy costs, and is limited; it ends September 1st.
Officials report that by July 1st, the pass had already been used for over 9 million kilometres of travel.
