Venice is unique at any time of day, but especially during what John Steinbeck called “the hour of the pearl” — that period just before the sun has set when the light is soft. These photos were taken after dinner one night, after we had visited the Accademia Gallery.
We were staying around Piazza San Marco and needed to get across the Grand Canal. Venice is a town where you either walk or take the slow vaporetto (water bus, seen in the photo below). We walk when we can and our journey took us across the Accademia Bridge, also seen in the photo below.

The photos in this post were taken from that bridge. It shows some of the finest sights in Venice — like people having dinner beside the canal….
Many grand palazzis….
And most impressive of all were the views of the Salute church and Customs House further down the canal….
There’s nothing quite like Venice.
Nice!
You’re right, “there’s nothing quite like Venice.: Beautiful photos!
