Hudson, New York has a long history as an industrial city along the Hudson River. It started as a fishing and whale-processing town. Its waterfront used to be wall-to-wall factories and warehouses. Today, most of those are gone.
One that is left is the Dunn warehouse. It was built in 1853 as part of factory that manufactured gas to act as an industrial fuel. It then served as a warehouse for Hudson Light and Power, until falling into disuse in the 1960s. Sixty years later, the city of Hudson is still debating what to do with the building and site.
