Paris had last summer’s Olympics, but Brussels is staging its own event next month: the first Dog Olympics. But unlike the human games, these events are open to any dog (and owner) who’d like to.
The event, announced by the city’s Councillor for Sport and Animal Welfare, will take place in the Bois de la Cambre on September 14 and includes competitions, such as the canicross (2.5 km or 5 km), skill and obedience games, dog-handler challenges, guided walks and even dog yoga sessions.
There will also be a photo booth, mini-pools for dogs, a chill-out area, a food truck, an ice cream parlour and a number of activities for children. Participants can also get certificates to take home.
