Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, second-busiest in the U.S., is getting ready for an expansion that will give it more gates than the busiest, Atlanta, and give American Airlines room to expand its home hub at the airport.
The new Terminal F agreement is a big change from the original plans, already under construction. It will now have more gates and a direct station on the airport’s Skylink system rather than a walking connection to Terminal E. The new terminal’s 31 gates will bring DFW to a total of 201, ahead of Atlanta’s 192.
Terminal F will focus on international connections for American and its OneWorld partners, and will have a walking connection to Terminal D where many of those flights now operates. Because of its status as American’s home and increasing population in northern Texas, the airport expects a 25% increase in passengers by 2030.
