China’s Hainan Island is soon to be home to the country’s first surfing resort, offering what its sponsors call “a distinct new concept in coastal hospitality, blending ocean adventure and modern resort living,” which may not be all that new in other countries.
Riyue Bay Surf Resort, which opens November 11, is on the southeast coast of the island in an area known for clear waters and ‘exceptional wave quality.’ It’s been called China’s “surfing paradise” and a “spiritual home for wave riders.”
In addition to the surfing beaches, the resort will feature China’s first super artificial wave pool, said to be the world’s most-advanced in mimicing natural waves, and making surfing available day and night no matter any seasonal or weather limitations.
