Chicken Rice at Boon Tong Kee, Singapore

We made a point of having dinner at Boon Tong Kee restaurant during our visit to Singapore, as it was within easy walking distance of our hotel.  We’d heard that they cooked a popular dish of Cantonese-style chicken that we wanted to try. The chicken is boiled/poached, giving it a somewhat rubbery consistency, and is served with a tasty sauce which pairs well with chicken flavored rice.  It was an interesting combination of flavors and textures, which worked together quite well.

Boiled chicken in a tasty sauce, served with chicken fried rice.
The chicken and rice washed down well with Tiger beer.

The restaurant was established in 1979 and there are now several locations within the island city.
