British rail passengers had a herd hard time Tuesday, as cows wandering onto rail tracks of the West Coast Main Line spread chaos far afield, even further afield than the cows themselves.
The disruption went on from around 9 a.m. until nearly 4 p.m. as trains on the line were blocked in both directions, spreading delays that included services feeding the line, which is a main route between London, the northwest and Scotland.
Officials said there had been difficulties contacting the farmer responsible for the animals, but gave no explanation of why it had taken so long to get them to moo-ve.
