The Castles of Bryce Canyon

Nature, geology especially, has an amazing repertoire of shapes and angles to create amazing landscapes—but sometimes it’s hard to believe that nature did the work.

I’ve been struck over and over by how much natural formations, especially in sandstone, can look like ruined castles and fortifications.

These examples are from a winter visit to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.
