This impressive workhorse is a preserved steam locomotive on display at the Toronto Railway Museum, in Roundhouse Park, I enjoy great trains almost as much as I do old cars, and this one caught my eye when I first saw it.
It was built at the Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) in August 1942. #6213 was one of 35 identical locomotives built during wartime. It was powerful, at 95 feet long and weighing 308 tons.
The train logged almost a million travel miles, from the Canadian prairies to the Maritime provinces. It was retired from service in 1959 and was saved from being scraped by conservationists. Some restorative work has been performed.
The train was moved to its current location in downtown Toronto in 2009. It is the only surviving steam locomotive in Toronto
