For most of the year it is really hard to tell some pine trees apart, but in fall it becomes really easy to tell the Tamaracks! The needles turn a bright yellow and then fall to the ground. I just assumed that all pine trees were “evergreens”. I might be wrong.

Incidentally, (proper) Pine trees are indeed evergreen – but Tamaracks are a type of Larch, a genus of deciduous conifers.
