Two of Brussels’ metro lines were out of service earlier this week, but not for the usual reasons. No power failures, not another strike, no accidents—just a number of foxes spotted on the tracks.
Service on Lines 2 and 6 which share some of the tracks was replaced temporarily by buses while authorities went looking for “one of more foxes on the tracks.”
The foxes are a protected species in the Brussels region, and have been spotted in the transit system before; in the image above, from 2017, a fox entered a tram at a service yard and enjoyed the view.
