Breeze Airways, the so-far most successful of the recent crop of U.S. airline startups, has taken its next step, starting international flights with a flurry of firsts.
Its January 10 flight from Norfolk to Cancun was not only Breeze’s first international flight, it was Norfolk’s first international flight in 25 years, and its first ever to Latin America. Norfolk’s last previous international service was to Toronto, but service ended when travel numbers dropped after September 11.
In addition to Cancun, Breeze will also offer flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Plans to fly to Montego Bay, Jamaica have been put off by Jamaica’s devastating hurricane last year.
