Wyndham refocuses its app for road trips

There are apps for planning routes, and apps for finding hotels, and apps to find pet-friendly hotels and more. Wyndham, which has 9280 hotels across 20 brands, has now swept versions of many of those tools into a new version of its app, focusing on the needs of travelers planning U.S. road trips.

The app's new tools let you put in where you want to stop, or to indicate your endpoints and how far you want to go in a day and let it suggest stops. It can find the hotels in your budget that can accommodate big vehicles, which will take pets and who has pools. It will also tell you how far off your route you need to go to find the feature you want.

The new tech tools grow out of a seven-year effort to unify and upgrade apps across its brands.
