WTTC: Focus on high-risk travelers, not countries

The World Travel & Tourism Council, which represents private-sector travel industry companies, is calling on governments to start focusing on keeping high-risk travelers at home rather than banning everyone from traveling.

According to WTTC president Gloria Guevara, “Risk based on entire countries is neither effective nor productive. Redefining risk towards individual travellers instead will be key for unlocking the door to the return of safe international travel. We need to learn from past experiences and crises such as 9-11."

Like other international travel organizations including IATA, she is calling for uniform standards and procedures for testing before and on arrival, to make it possible for more people to travel safely. The hope is that removing high-risk travelers from the stream will allow a real revival of travel worldwide, and a revival for the industry.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
