World's shortest international flight cancelled

You'll have to hurry if you want to book a seat on the world's shortest international flight; the 8-minute, 20 km route between Switzerland and Germany is being cancelled as of next Friday.

Austria's People's Group airline, also known as Viennaline, has been running the route since November, between St. Gallen-Altenrhein airport in Switzerland and Friedrichshafen in Germany, using one of its two Embraer 170s.

The airline hoped the short hop would serve to connect its two other routes, Vienna to St. Gallen and Friedrichshafen to Cologne/Bonn. After Friday, only the Vienna route will remain. The airline also flies seasonal charters to vacation spots in Italy, Greece and Croatia.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations

A  Domestic flight in Scotland is the overall winner.

Topping the table is the wonderfully unconventional two-minute Loganair service between Westray and Papa Westray in Scotland’s Orkney Islands, which are separated by just 1.7 miles of land and sea. It can be completed in as little as 47 seconds, depending on the direction of the wind, and welcomed its millionth passenger this week.
