White House tours returning in DC

Two years after the pandemic shut down most of Washington's tourism attractions, one of the premier ones is about to stage a limited return with the White House opening to guided tours again starting April 15.

Like many of the city's re-opened museums, initially dates and hours will be limited, with tours only on Friday and Monday mornings. Tour requests are made through members of Congress, and require at least three weeks advance notice.

No definite schedule has been set yet for tours of the Capitol building, although officials have said that may be coming soon, possibly with enhanced security as a result of the January 6 insurrection last year.

While most of the District's museums, including those operated by the Smithsonian Institution, have re-opened, they are still operating limited hours, typically closed for two or three days during the week.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
