Where in the World is TravelGumbo (#358)

Gumbo has waved a sentimental farewell to Alsace and gone off in another direction (or perhaps misdirection?)  This week he's visiting a place whose identify offers so many diverse clues that finding him may not be easy—but close attention to the clues will yield useful information.

This week's location is the world's first of its kind, and others have imitated it. Its creators were famed in their field, and their work can be found in many places, but most of the clues show the work of others.

Confused? The Puzzler hopes not, and believes that when you've figured out two or three of the clues the answer will come quickly. But which two or three will work for you?

There will be new clues posted each day that will reveal more and more details about our mystery destination, and the reveal will published on Monday.  Keep checking in, observing, suggesting, reading and commenting along with your fellow readers.

THE RULES

  1. Share your suggestions, hints, observations and discussions with others by posting them here as comments...
  2. If you absolutely know what and where it is....please give others some time to work on it  before you pounce.  Email us your answer to tgsuggestions@gmail.com We acknowledge everyone who correctly answers the puzzle when the 'reveal' is posted on Monday in the order these answers are received.
  3. To leave a comment, you need to be a member...but that's free and easy.  Just click HERE.

So, where is Gumbo visiting this week? This time, the answer is not a town or building, but is within a well-known city.
