OK! This should be a fun week at the Puzzle Farm!
We're starting with a picture that might, at first, leave you in the dark...it certainly left us there, with nothing but candles and camera flashes. More than that I cannot say just now, but since a picture is, they say, worth a thousand words, I'll add one new picture each day to help guide your guessing.
In the end, the answer should be both general (city or other place) and specific (where were we when the lights went out. See note below)
