When Paris vacations, cats can, too

Paris is famous for its summer exodus, when a large part of the population heads for a month at the beach or in the mountains and many stores close until September 1st.

For those who can afford it, there's even a service that will host pet cats in feline luxury for the whole month, or a few days at a time, but it is apparently so popular that spots for this year's August exodus were fully booked by February. The hotel, called Arbre de Chat, or Cat Tree, has 24 rooms, usually for a single cat but sharable by cats who know each other.

Aside from normal food and exercise, the hotel will give cats their meds. There are also extra-cost services, including massage, brushing, transport, flea treatments, extra catnip and even twice-a-week pictures so owners can see how the cats are doing—a sort of kitten Instagram.

The rates are not cheap, however. Single nights go for €40 off season or €45 for high season. The monthly rates range from €1,116 to €1,120.20.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
