Waterpark to make a splash in Manchester

Manchester, England is about to get the UK's biggest waterpark, with dozens of slides, pools and saunas, all dressed up as a 'wellness center' with classes, spa treatments, restaurants  and more. Opening is scheduled for 2023.

The facility is being built for Therme Group, which owns a number of other spas, but none nearly as large as this one, which will have 25 swimming pools, 35 water slides, 30 saunas and steam rooms, all under glass domes and decorated with potted palms. It's nearly twice the size of the next largest park in the UK, and will be located next door to the huge Trafford Centre shopping center. The tram line that serves the shopping center will also serve the pools.

Therme's Chief Development Officer is apparently not having the idea that this is just for fun; he told The Independent (UK) that "The events of 2020 have shone a light on the necessity of this mission, especially for those in cities. Therme Manchester will redefine city wellbeing, enhancing mental and physical health through an experience based in water and nature. It will offer a unique holiday at home that acts as a catalyst for healthy lifestyles.”

When that's at home, it calls itself "have fun splashing around with the kids."

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
