A giant spiraling skywalk, rising 10 stories above its base in a forest of fir and arbutus trees, has opened on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. And for the truly adventurous, one way down is a giant spiral slide.
The project, a joint venture with the Malahat First Nation whose land it is on, starts with a 600 meter walkway that rises 20 meters to the base of the spiral. At the top of the tower, 250 meters above sea level, there are views out over the forest and the islands and waters surrounding it.
If that's not enough excitement, those who are not afraid of jelly legs can cross the center of the tower on a suspended adventure net. The rest of us can watch. When it's time to descend, visitors either retrace their path down the spiral, or take the slide down.
