'Vacation Deprivation' still an American ill

According to Expedia's annual 'Vacation Deprivation' report, Americans continue to leave a lot of leave time on the table and to take their work laptops with them when they do take vacation, even thought 78% told researchers they enjoy being temporarily 'unproductive.'

And the pandemic has done nothing to improve the situation; in fact, working from home may have eroded vacation a bit more by totally blurring the distinction between being 'at work' and being 'at home.' And frequent Zoom calls just make it worse. In fact, a substantial number of people chose 'workcations' over 'vacations' last year, even though 92% said job-free vacation time is important.

But perhaps there's some room for improvement; Expedia's report indicates that many Americans have made a New Year resolution to take more time, possibly pushing the average up from eleven days to fourteen. We'll see!
