Universal plans two new parks

Universal Studios is branching out in two new directions, adding a family-oriented kid-friendly park in Texas and a permanent horror show just off the Las Vegas Strip.

The Texas park, near Frisco, will cover only 97 acres, much smaller than the other Universal parks. It will include immersive themed lands, family-friendly attractions, interactive shows, and meet-and-greet opportunities with iconic characters in a "lush green landscape."

In Las Vegas, the company is going for an entirely different audience, with a year-round version of its fall-season Halloween Horror Nights. Universal's announcement says it wants "to give our global fanbase yet another way to get scared and have fun with fear in the heart of Las Vegas." The horrors will be updated regularly. The park will also include restaurants with matching themes.
