Twisted Towers, Paris

When I visited the observation deck of the Tour Montparnasse last Summer (not a bad idea, because it's an excellent way of not seeing the Tour Montparnasse), I was struck by two buildings I'd never noticed before, as well as by how bad the smog can be in Paris.

At first glance, I thought there was smoke coming from the towers, as if they were smokestacks, but a closer view made clear they are office buildings, specifically the Tours Duo, or Dual Towers, designed by 'starchitect' Jean Nouvel, completed just this year as part of a new business district at the edge of the 13e Arrondissemont.

For a clearer look at the buildings, I offer the two images above, one posted to Wikimedia Commons, and the other from the developer's website. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but clearly two different beholders.

New York has a twister, too, though not as radical in the American Copper buildings, a Manhattan East Side apartment development.
