TSA's airport gun haul rises

While fewer Americans are flying these days, the ones who do are more likely to be armed, if TSA's gun seizure statistics are a measure: The agency seized 3,257 guns from carry-on bags at airports.

That figure represents ten weapons per million passengers, double the five per million of the year before. No figures, of course, on how many might have gotten through. Except for air marshals, guns are banned from airliner cabins, and must be in checked bags.

Guns were seized at 234 different airports across the country, but a few airports stood out in the top tier; predictably they were among the busiest as well. First place went to Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson, with 220, followed by DFW with 176 and Houston Bush with 126.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
