TripAdvisor plans next level

TripAdvisor, already the largest travel site on the internet, is planning to take its 661 million reviews and content from publishers and others to create what it calls the world's first "travel feed."

The new website and mobile platform will partner with a range of content providers including National Geographic, Travel Channel, Conde Nast, CNN and more to link consumer reviews with more detailed content, music and pictures. Users will be able to post to the site in broader ways than just reviews, or assemble material from all sources into a custom trip or event guide.

While the new plan represents a major turn for the site, there are still nagging questions about its reviews, many of which are unverified and have often been fake, sometimes written by commercial review generators. As recently as last week, an Italian publicist was jailed for generating such reviews.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
