Tonight is International Bat Night, with events in more than 30 countries, so you may not have to go far to find your inner nocturnal mammal. Although, if you're not sure where to go, Eurobats.org has a search form.
In Belgium, there are programs tonight, with repeats next Saturday in other locations around Brussels, including a Bat Fair that offers the opportunity to learn about the role bats play in agriculture and pest control, as well as their role in history and culture.
In many areas, bats are endangered as cities expand and clear forests and fields, but even in the Brussels region more than 19 species persist.
