Through a Rose Window, Strasbourg

Standing in side, looking at stained glass with the sun streaming in behind it, is a glorious experience, especially when the glass is as spectacular as a cathedral's rose window is likely to be.

But generally, the experience from the outside is different; it's a reminder that it was intended to be seen from inside by people who had come to worship.

But earlier this year, while out walking in the evening in Strasbourg, I noticed that interior lights of the Cathedral were on, giving a different night-time view through, not at the glass.

No words needed to explain how spectacularly different that was!
