The Most-Visited Cinema in the World

Paris, the city with the most movie theatres, also has the busiest one, or rather the busiest movie complex, with 2.2 million admissions last year at the Ciné Cité Les Halles.

The theatre complex, located in the huge underground Chatelet-Les Halles shopping mall, boasts 27 screens and 3,820 seats, more than any other venue in Europe. The scale allows it to keep movies on view longer and to offer more choices.

Ciné Cité is open from 9 to midnight, as are 2,000 other French theatres. After a long period of decline, movie-going in France has seen a steady revival in recent years, though interrupted by the pandemic.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
