The Hole of Horcum, Levisham near Pickering, North Yorkshire.

The "Hole of Horcum" is an impressive sight when travelling over the North York Moors between the market town of Pickering, and the popular coastal resort and north sea port of Whitby.

Many legends surround this massive geological feature, which was originally a valley, later widened by erosion and collapse of its banked sides. Excellent views are available from a perimeter pathway, but its difficult to obtain a photograph showing its full expanse due to its physical size.

Skies and sun.

I've included a small gallery of images taken late afternoon in august with shadows and light spots which accentuate the features of the "Hole".
