Take a road trip in Elvis's 'last Caddy'

Elvis Presley loved Cadillacs, and is said to have owned over a hundred during his career; what's said to be the last one he owned is being sold at auction next week in Salzburg—your chance to grab his ride.

The car, a beige Cadillac de Ville that started out as a sedan and ended up as a customized station wagon, has an estimated price of €100,000 to €200,000, but could go much higher. It has about 70,000 miles on the odometer; 1500 of them were clocked on his last drive home from Las Vegas to Graceland, eight months before he died in 1977.

Presley originally gave the car as a gift to his manager, Col. Tom Parker, but then borrowed it so often that Parker gave it back to him. It's got the usual—radio, air conditioning and leather seats—as well as the unusual, including gold-plated trim and fittings and gold-plated wheels. But you'll probably have to swap out the audio system: It only takes 8-track tapes.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
