Swiss university offers Master of Yodeling

A Swiss university is adding bachelor's and master's degrees in yodeling to its folk music program, starting next year.

Students at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts will learn yodeling skills along with modules in theory, history and business. It's been on the mind of the school's music department for years, but lacked a qualified teacher. Now Nadja Rass (above) a Swiss yodeling star and trained voice teacher, has been signed up. She also runs a yodeling academy in Zurich.

Yodeling is enough a part of Switzerland's heritage that it's being proposed as a UNESCO intangible heritage, along with hand watchmaking, Alpine livestock traditions and the Helvetica typeface.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
