Swiss Miss: A pair of paintings

Zurich's Kunsthaus Museum is a bit chagrined these days after two 17th-century paintings disappeared while they were off the walls for cleaning after a fire in the museum.

After the fire on August 16, over 700 works were taken down for cleaning and restoration. Since earlier this month, the museum has been unable to locate the two small paintings by Flemish painter Robert van den Hoecke and Dutch Golden Age artist Dirck de Bray.

A statement from the museum says "Internal searches remained unsuccessful. "Since theft can no longer be ruled out, Kunsthaus filed a complaint with police on January 13th." The museum and police are hopeful the paintings will be returned unharmed.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
