Swiss court rules: No discount bunnies

Switzerland's Federal Supreme Court has put an end to the career of a discount version of Lindt's famous foil-wrapped rabbit, ruling that the discount grocery chain Lidl must not only drop their version from its shelves, but destroy the stock.

The golden hare, introduced in 1952, is one of Lindt's most recognizable products. The judges ruled that chocolate bunnies wrapped in foil whether "golden or another color" would pose "a risk of confusion even if the two products present certain differences."

The ruling upheld Lindt's copyrights as covering the case, overturning a 2021 ruling by a lower commercial court in Aargau Canton. So, at least in Switzerland, you'll have to have your bunnies naked or from Lindt.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
