St Helen's Church. Lancashire, England

Before being consecrated in the year 1170, this site was a Saxon burial ground. St Helen's R.C. Church is now the oldest church in Lancashire.

Building began in 1171, when it was a private chapel for the Molyneux family. It was added to over the following 400 years as the local population grew. It contains many wooden carvings and is still used today.

It's a centre of attraction for Ghost Hunters. They say nuns can be seen carrying a coffin through the church gates and then on to the church, where the nuns pass through a wall where a doorway once stood.

I did see a small glow of light at the entrance to the Church. Around midnight I walked into the Church grounds to see if it was yet another Ghost Hunt looking for activity. As I approached the source of the light it went dimmer. When I was at the Church entrance it was pitch black and there were no signs of any presence. But it did make my hair stand up !
