Something squirrelly about this story

Sometimes a story that isn;t really news makes it into the news, often because there's a cute animal story attached to it. This is one of them.

Police in Dortmund, Germany were called last week when a passerby spotted a squirrel stuck in a manhole cover, apparently while trying to leave the sewer system for a nicer spot.

The police and rescue services were unable to move the squirrel in or out of the cover; eventually a crew removed the manhole cover and took it, squirrel and all, to a local veterinarian, who tranquilized the squirrel, and was able to release it from the cover.

The squirrel remained with the vet for treatment of minor injuries, and the cops hauled the manhole cover back to the street.
