Six more airlines join TSA PreCheck

SAS, Condor and Porter Air are among six airlines that have just joined the TSA PreCheck program, giving passengers who have joined the program a quicker run through airport security. Also included are Air Serbia, and Thomas Cook's UK and Scandinavian units.

That brings the total to 52 airlines, international and domestic, along with 200 airports and 5 million enrolled travelers. Membership entitles travelers to use a dedicated airport lane, usually less crowded, to leave their laptops and liquids in carry-ons and to leave belts and shoes on. Those take on new significance as TSA tightens screening in regular lanes.

PreCheck membership costs $85 for five years, but is included within the $100/5-year Global Entry program that also expedites returning through customs and immigration from overseas points. Increasingly, reimbursement for the membership fee is a feature of high-end credit cards.
