School-bus glamping at a Cotswold spa

Glamping—easy on the roughing it, heavy on the luxe camping has become a thing, and now it's taken a new turn as an eco-conscious clothing company has branched out into recycled American school buses, fitted out for family vacations. Not on the road, mind you, but on the grounds of a luxury country spa.

The company, Dinoski, has partnered with operations such as Calcot & Spa, which has three of the 'cheese buses' installed in its 220 acre grounds. Other guests are accommodated in a large stone former farmhouse. The buses can sleep a family of five each.

But for anyone who thinks this is beatnik or hippie territory, well...it's made up to look that way, but if there's any cooking done in the mini-kitchens, there's staff to whisk away the dirty dishes and return them clean. Or simply to bring meals from the farmhouse kitchen.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
