San Francisco Peaks, Arizona

This group of mountains is located just north of Flagstaff, Arizona.  These are the San Francisco Peaks, the tallest in the state, part of an extinct volcanic caldera.  Humphrey's Peak reaches 12,633 feet.

The peaks were named in honor of St. Francis of Assisi by the Spanish Friars who settled here in the 1620's.  They offer great outdoor opportunities -- skiing, hiking, camping, etc.  And they are beautiful!
