Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, Banff National Park

Bighorn sheep are commonly spotted in the Rocky Mountains.  Usually, you'll see small bachelor groups, or larger collections of ewes and lambs.

This group was spotted in early May near the Banff townsite.  It's a little unusual in that it's a large group of comingled males and females.  They were grazing on early spring grass and were so close to us we could actually hear them chewing.

Always a treat to spot and study!
