An infant white rhino is the latest attraction at Disney World's Animal Kingdom, even if opportunities to be attracted to it are limited for now by Covid-era restrictions.
Since rhinos are the second-largest land mammal (want to guess the other?), it's no surprise that the baby weighed in at a hefty 150 pounds. The new addition to the count of endangered white rhinos is the eleventh one born at Disney World; his mother, Kendi, was the first, in 1999. Two other Disney World white rhinos are pregnant and expected to give birth next year.
Over the next few weeks, the newcomer will be introduced to the others and to the theme park's savanna area, meant to resemble their African native habitat. The breeding program at Disney is supervised by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums as part of its Species Survival Plans.
