During March, April, and May 2020, Venice was deserted for, most likely, the first time in its history. It seems so long ago when Italy was in lockdown because of COVID. But Luc and Danielle Carton, who live in Venice, took advantage of this unprecedented time in history and were fortunate enough to be able to photograph this most beautiful city in such exceptional circumstances.
Visiting Venice, my memories are of crowds, jostling for photo angles, and getting lost along its twisting streets. For anyone who has visited Venice or dreams of visiting, this book focuses on the details and nuances, architectural beauty, and portrays peaceful images.
The book is divided by areas of the city: San Marco, Canal Grande, Dorsoduro, San Polo, Santa Croce, Cannaregio, and Castello. The photographers focus on the beauty that is uniquely Venice.
Luc and Danielle created images focusing on the city's detail, beauty, and timelessness. Honorary citizens of Venice, Danielle, and Luc Carton, have lived in Venice since 2007. They have received the 'Diploma de Benemerito.'
