Denver's Red Rocks Amphitheatre scored a hit for its 80th anniversary, named as Billboard Magazine's top-grossing and most-attended concert venue in the world of any size.
It's a surprise position for the outdoor arena, set in a sandstone valley ten miles west of Denver. At less than 10,000 seats it doesn't even fit the magazine's category for the largest venues, but for 2021 it had an advantage over more frequent winners such as Madison Square Garden: It's outdoors. Many of its larger competitors were either closed for the year, or only had very limited schedules.
Red Rocks hosted 177 concerts and 56 other events during its April to November season, for a total of 233 events, more than its previous record, and about twice the results for 2020, even with reduced seating for Covid.
