Queen for a Day: Diner gets Michelin star

A French roadside cafe got more than the "word of mouth" its name translates to when it accidentally got a Michelin star for its €13 homestyle lunches for local workers.

The Bouche à Oreille cafe, a lunch favorite in the Route de la Chapelle in Bourges in central France, serves simple dishes such as fried mussels and boeuf bourgignon.

After its name appeared in the newest Michelin guide, the rush started, and owner Veronique Jacquet told the newspaper La Parisian that "I’m starting to get snowed under, I have these new customers who want tables of two, three and four but at the same time I have all my regular customers. The problem is we don't have a big area and we only have four hands."

The star was meant to go to another restaurant, with the same name, and on a street with the same name, but in Boutervillers, south of Paris. At that restaurant, the menu tends toward ray wing and lobster tarts, on a menu priced at €48.

Things have calmed down now, and the owner says "I'm going to continue to work just like before. The spirit here is that our door is open to everyone. We make quick food, home-made, buffets, plat du jours and desserts." And you know that word of mouth is good!

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
