Planning a Solo Trip? 5 Essentials to Include!

If people across the globe have a bucket list, I am sure more than 90% will have a solo trip listed in it.

I remember when I solo traveled across Europe, in the Euro rail, and boy, the experience was one of a kind. I am surely going to tell the story to my grandkids, at least 10 times.

Travelling, if done the right way, is already adventurous, and if you add the element of ‘solo’ to it, you are sure to make things a lot more interesting. Solo-travelling. i.e., traveling to the place of your choice, all by yourself. Sounds super-fun, doesn’t it?

Now that you are here reading this, I am sure you are looking at planning a solo trip.

However, it’s not as easy-and-fun as it seems, considering you need to be all alone in the whole trip. If you fail to pack your kit with the right essentials, solo trips can easily transform into one of the worst traveling experiences. To prevent that, I have listed some essentials in this article so that you can make the most of your solo trip!

  1. Backpack

Whether you are planning on a solo trek or solo travel across the euro rail, you want your backpack to accompany you. For trekking, it is already a part of your hiking gear. For other travel expeditions and locations, you must invest in a good-quality backpack, before you start to think about what you want to fill it in with.

A durable, waterproof, and light-weighted backpack will be the ideal choice. There are so many options you can explore both online and offline. Remember, this is going to be your only partner all through the trip, so don’t pick anything that provides you even a slight bit of discomfort.

  1. Essential Tech

Tech has been ever-advancing and with the wide variety of technology available, your solo trip will be as smooth as you imagined it to be. So, remember to pack technology on priority because if you forget about them, it can make your trip extremely unpleasant and challenging.

Portable charger, tablets, DSLR, Bluetooth speaker, or anything else that you need in your travel. Your smartphone along with a good pair of noise-canceling headphones will also be a wise investment.

  1. Exciting Entertainment

Nothing can be more entertaining than your solo trip, but at the same time, you cannot ignore the downtime your trip would involve. That is long flight journeys or long ticketing queues at tourist places. You may find this time very lonely if you don’t have anything to keep you entertained.

Like I mentioned above, a pair of noise-canceling headphones will keep you busy in the queues. Also, if you are carrying your laptop or tablet, keep your movies list sorted. You can also install a few online games for the days you just wish to chill in your room.

  1. A Safety Kit

Solo-travelling has its own perks and challenges. One of the biggest challenges (which is also the biggest advantage) is that you are all by yourself, all through the trip. This means, there is no one to look after you in case of unfortunate accidents.

So, make sure to pack a safety kit that includes basic safety amenities, like band-aids, paracetamols, sprays, etc. You must also carry meds for diseases you are prone to. Like, some people are prone to diarrhea or cold, and always have a few prescribed medicines for it.

  1. Other essentials

After guiding you through most essentials, we still see a few items left uncovered, which cannot be broadly categorized in any of the above. These include guidebooks, maps, local currency, instant canned food, and more.

They all are equally important, but most times we fail to include them while packing for the trip. Don’t make this mistake and make sure to include all the things that you will need during the trip.

Over to you…

Now you are all set for an experience of a lifetime. But one more time, this journey will only be joyful if you have all the essentials packed.

Happy journey!
