Over the years I've visited Paris, I've spent a good bit of my time wandering the streets, absorbing atmosphere and views, and making lots of pictures. Many of them have been of buildings and monuments, but I'm often struck afterwards by casual images of people on the streets. Or, in the case of the fellow above, making his own city observations.
Above, a chance moment near Square Louise Michel in Montmartre; below, a pick-up band playing for coins and bills outside Square René Viviani on the Left Bank, opposite Notre Dame.
Artist and critic along the glass wall of the Eiffel Tower, and below, a slow moment for vendors selling Eiffel Towers on the Passerelle Debilly.
Two seated scenes: a silver-booted model, preparing for a photo-shoot with a classic sports car along the river's edge, and a man and dog seemingly permanently seated steps away from the forecourt of Notre Dame.
One last glance... no people, but a clever signpainter at work...
