Paris with a Jetpack on new VR ride

For those who've longed to be Superman or any other flying super-hero, there's now an opportunity to combine that dream with a virtual-reality tour of Paris from the air at FlyView, in the heart of Paris.

The attraction opened last week in a 1000sq metre space on Place de l'Opéra, with 50 jetpack simulators, making it one of the world's largest VR installations. Visitors arrive in an airport-terminal styled lobby, with check-in counters and 'flight attendants.'

The jetpack seats are mounted on motion actuators, and guests don virtual reality helmets that allow them to see themselves take off  and rise above the rooftops with flying sensations the company says are "more real than life." The 13-minute ride puts all passengers on the same itinerary of take-off, turns, pauses and landing, but because the virtual Paris uses highly-detailed 360° views, each can customize the view by looking in different directions.

And for the rest of us...when in Paris, great views are all over. No helmet needed!

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
