Paris to host Lollapalooza this summer

Add another attraction for Paris; the city will get its own annual version of the Lollapalooza alternative culture festival, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers as headliners. The dates are July 22-23 at the Longchamps Racecourse west of the city.

The festival lineup includes U.S. rockers Imagine Dragons and R&B act The Weeknd, indie rock Pixies, baroque singer Lana Del Rey and more. There will also be French performers, including DJ Snake, the producer who has a following in the U.S. as well, along with psychedelic rockers La Femme and French hip-hop act IAM.

Lollapalooza got its start in the 1990s as a traveling festival for non-mainstream music and culture, but shut down after a few years after criticism it was getting too commercial. It restarted with annual shows in Chicago, and has spread to several cities in South America. Paris is the second European edition after Berlin, which started in 2015.
